FAQs
-
We are a private-pay practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many clients use out-of-network (OON) benefits to receive reimbursement. We simplify this process and can provide superbills or walk you through how to submit them.
-
Insurance often requires therapists to give clients a formal diagnosis and limits the number of sessions. By working privately, we can offer confidential, customized care, without the red tape or forced labels.
-
If you have OON benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a significant portion of your session cost.
-
Session rates are $250 per session for individual sessions and $100 per session for group sessions. Dr. Ty also offers reduced-fee slots on a limited basis.
-
Dr. Ty currently has a few immediate openings for new clients. Many people are able to book their first session within a few days, sometimes even the same week.
We respond quickly to every inquiry because we know that when you're ready, waiting shouldn't be the hardest part.
-
Dr. Ty offers individual, relationship, and group therapy, with the option to meet in person at the Houston office or virtually from anywhere in Texas.
His work focuses on sex therapy, queer and gender-affirming care, ethical non-monogamy, kink-conscious therapy, anxiety, shame, identity, desire, and relationships. The right format depends on what you are bringing into therapy, and that can be discussed during your consultation.
-
As a private pay practice, we are not required to report diagnoses to insurance companies unless you request a superbill to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. However, like all licensed practices, we may document a general diagnosis in your clinical record as part of ethical and legal standards. This is confidential and not used to label or limit you.
Our focus is on understanding your experience, not defining you by a code. We practice human-first therapy, not diagnosis-first therapy.
