WHAT WE WORK ON TOGETHER

Ty specializes in the areas most therapists won't go. He works with people who want more honest conversations about sex, identity, desire, relationships, and the parts of themselves they have not always had space to explore.

SEX & INTIMACY

Sex therapy is Ty's specialty - and the area most therapists avoid, likely because of their own conditioning.

Whether you're dealing with shame around desire, navigating sexual identity, addressing performance anxiety (a term Dr. Ty loathes, ask him why), or simply wanting to understand your own sexuality better - this is the work.

What we address:

  • Sex Therapy (individuals and couples)

  • Sexual Shame & Religious Trauma

  • Sexual Identity & Orientation Exploration

  • Erectile Dysfunction & Sexual Functioning (Performance)

  • Desire and Interest Discrepancy

Queer & Gender-Related Issues

You deserve a therapist who already knows. Not one who needs the context before they can show up for you.

Ty's entire practice is built around this community. The training, the certifications, the 15 years of focused work. It was never a general practice that expanded to include queer clients. It started here.

What we work on:

  • LGBTQ+ Therapy

  • Gender Identity & Expression

  • Queer Relationship Structures

Open, Polyamorous, & Kink Relationships

If you've ever had to explain what polyamory is to your therapist, or felt like you had to defend your relationship structure or your kinks before the real work could begin, this is the space you've been looking for.

You won't spend the first three sessions on definitions. Ty has spent over a decade building expertise specifically for this work. You can show up as you are and get straight to it.

What we work on:

  • Ethical Non-Monogamy

  • Polyamory

  • Kink-Aware Therapy

  • BDSM-Affirming Therapy

  • Relationship Agreements

  • Navigating Jealousy, Hierarchy, and Transition

Anxiety, Trauma & Impulse Control

Anxiety shows up differently for everyone. For some it's the voice in our head  that won't stop. For others it's avoidance, or the body's response to stress that feels completely out of control.

The work here isn't about eliminating stress, which is never a realistic goal. It's about changing your relationship with it so it stops running the show.

Areas of focus include general anxiety, phobias, social anxiety, performance anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and anxiety that connects to identity or sexuality.

Group Psychotherapy

In addition (or sometimes in lieu of) individual counseling, Group Psychotherapy can be a powerful vehicle that some clients utilize to accomplish their goals. This environment is enriching for many folks as it surrounds you with other people working on similar issues and you’re able to connect with them for support, a model - and sometimes inspiration - that growth and healing exists and is obtainable. We are able to learn from each other’s struggles and successes. We gain support and strength as one of us works, we all work. Additionally, group work is a more affordable avenue for many folks.

Personally, I love doing group work where I get to witness people show up in support of each other while also holding each other accountable to our collective work. And somehow we do it all while creating and holding as safe a space as possible for each other. It’s truly inspiring to watch a group lift up and celebrate each other as we accomplish our goals.

In-person counseling

In-person sessions available at the Houston office.

Sometimes the work feels different when you're in the room. If you're local to Houston and prefer meeting face to face, the office is a quiet, private space designed for exactly that.

Virtual Counseling

Virtual counseling available across Texas and virtual coaching available for those outside the Lonestar State.

Whether you're in Houston, out of town, or just prefer the flexibility of working from home - virtual sessions are a full and equal option, not a workaround.

Sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll receive a link before your appointment. No app download required in most cases.
